Tools

Tools are the mechanic that replaced Charms from the last game. Instead of there being Charm Notches, there are Tool Slots that are specific to each color slot, being red, blue, and yellow. None of the crests come with all slots unlocked, and you must instead spend memory lockets to unlock one slot of your choosing on one of your crests. All tools have infinite uses, except the red tools have a limited amount of uses and must be repaired at a bench using shell shards to get all the uses back.

Red Tools

Red tools are a subtype of tools that are used as weapons as opposed to utility like the other types.

Straight Pin-Throws a fast, low-damage projectile horizontally. Acquired early game, making it a great option then, mainly in part to it's ability to be spammed.

Trifold Pin-Throws pins similar to the Straight Pin, but throws three in a fan pattern.

Sting Shard-Toss out a bundle of spikes that can float midair, and activates when in contact with an enemy. If it is hit it will prematurely shoot out the spines.

Tacks-Throw out a group of spikes that deal constant damage when in contact with an enemy.

Long Pin-Throw a downward-arcing projectile that can pierce through multiple enemies.

Curveclaw-Throw a boomerang-like projectile that can hit enemies multiple times.

Curvesickle-An upgrade to the Curveclaw, only obtainable in Act 3, it deals more damage than it's predecessor.

Throwing Ring-Signature weapon of Shakra, the mapmaker found across the map, it can bounce off enemies and walls.

Pimpillo-A grenade-like device that explodes on a timer, but will also explode if it comes in contact with an enemy.

Conchcutter-Similar to the throwing ring, it bounces off of walls, but does not bounce off of enemies and will pass through them dealing damage.

Silkshot-The only tool with varients, it first must be found as the ruined tool item, but can be repaired in three seperate places, permanently blocking the other varients. The ruined tool can be repaired by the Twelfth Architect in the Underworks to get the version that fires a burst of three shots, it can be repaired by the Forgedaughter in Deep Docks which gives you a Silkshot that rapid-fires the shots. Finally, it can be repaired by Hornet herself which makes a Silkshot that fires after a short charge, and pierces through enemies.

Delver's Drill-This tool propels Hornet downwards and deals constant damage to enemies it hits while being used.

Cogwork Wheel-Throws out a sawblade that pushes itself forwards dealing constant damage and turns around if it hits a wall.

Cogfly-Releases autonomous flys that seek out and damage enemies.

Rosary Cannon-must be loaded with rosaries at a bench, and then fires them in a constant stream.

Voltvessels-Has two seperate modes, with one sticking the tool in the ground before creating a high-damaging pillar of electricity, and the other mode throws out two balls that create an explosion of electricity in a small radius, but unlike the Silkshot you can choose freely which type to use.

Flint Slate-Lights the needle on fire which causes it to deal additional damage, and after three hits will ignite enemies dealing damage over time.

Fleabrew-Acquired from the Flea Caravan, it increases your movement speed and attack speed while in effect.

Plasmium Phial-Acquired from Alchemist Zylotol after finishing a short quest, it gives you one blue lifeblood mask. There's a hidden mechanic in which, after getting a certain amount of lifeblood masks, you will "overdose" on the lifeblood which makes your bind only heal one mask, but allows you to passively regenerate your masks over time, along with being able to heal by injecting yourself with the phial again.

Snare Setter-Is consumed when going into Act 3, which makes you unable to use it ever again, but forces Hornet down into the ground and sets an exploding area on the ground.

Tool Upgrades

Red Tools can be upgraded in two ways. The first way to upgrade them is with a Tool Pouch upgrade that increases the amount of tools that you can hold at once. The Crafting Kits increase the damage output of tools.

Blue Tools

Blue tool are combat-oriented utility tools that improve the way you fight in some way.

Druid's Eye-Gives one half of a unit of silk upon taking damage, and once two are accrued, it gives a full silk unit.

Druid's Eyes-Gives two halves of a silk unit upon hit, and upon being hit a second time completes the silk units.

Magma Bell-Reduces the damage taken from lava and fire attacks down to one mask, but must cool down for a few seconds after being used.

Warding Bell-Creates a shield around you when binding that tanks any hit during the bind, not causing you to take damage, but still consuming all the silk you normally would.

Claw Mirror-Upon completing a bind, flashes all surrounding enemies with a red light that deals damage. This tool very slightly increases the length of the bind animation, but not enough to make it unviable.

Claw Mirrors-Acquired in Act 3 after defeating Tormented Trobio, adds a second explosion to the bind effect.

Sawtooth Circlet-Creates a small damaging circle when using the Drifter's Cloak or when double jumping.

Quick Sling-Throws 2 red tools instead of 1 when you use them, but still consumes 2 charges of the tool.

Wreath of Purity-Prevents muckmaggots from sticking to Hornet when touching the water inside of Bilewater and Putrified Ducts. However, this tool has a durability that goes down when in contact with the water.

Injector Band-One of the best tools in Silksong, reducing the bind time by 33% while losing none of the healing.

Spool Extender-Increases the amount of silk you can hold at once.

Memory Crystal-Upon taking damage create an ice sculpture of Hornet that explodes after a short duration dealing damage to enemies withen range.

Multibinder-Lengthens the duration of the bind animation, but increases the amount of masks regenerated by one for the same silk cost. The tool breaks up the bind animation into two segments of two masks of healing, meaning if you get hit in the second bind animation, you still heal the masks from the first bind animation.

Reserve Bind-Allows Hornet to bind once per rest without the required silk. It will not override if you have enough silk to bind normally.

Volt Filament-Increases the strength of Silk Skills by adding an electricity effect.

Pin Badge-Reduces the charge time of Needle Strikes and unlocks secret dialogue with certain NPCs.

Snitch Pick-When hitting enemies with the Clawline, you make them drop a small amount of rosaries and shell shards.

Fractured Mask-Will allow you to survive fatal hit once per rest, and must be repaired after being destroyed.

Weavelight-Increases the speed of which silk is automatically generated, and increases the max amount generated by one.

Pollip Pouch-Adds a damage over time effect to all red tools.

Longclaw-Increases the range of the needle.

Wispfire Lantern-Summons a wisp every few seconds at the cost of one silk.

Egg of Flealia-Reduces the cost of Silk Skills by one when at full health.

Yellow Tools

Yellow Tools are movement-oriented tools that are helpful for navigation or resource gathering.

Compass-Shows Hornet's position when looking at a map.

Shard Pendant-Increases the amount of Shell Shards that are dropped by enemies.

Magnetite Brooch-Similar to Hollow Knight's Gathering Swarm, it causes all rosaries to be pulled towards Hornet.

Weighted Anklet-Removes the knockback when hitting an enemy with the needle, and reduces how far you are flung when getting hit.

Barbed Bracelet-Increases the damage taken per hit, but increases the damage you do.

Dead Bug's Purse-Makes the wearer retain some rosaries after death.

Shell Satchel-Replaces the Dead Bug's Purse in *Steel Soul* mode, and instead increases the amount of red tools that can be held at once by one.

Magnetite Dice-Has a small chance to dodge a hit and take no damage. Each mask of damage taken increases the chance of dodging a hit. It also slightly increases the chance of dealing a critical hit with the Wanderer's Crest.

Scuttle Brace-Allows Hornet to dash backwards and crawl backwards when holding down and pressing the dash button. You can jump and climb walls in this state.

Ascendant's Grip-Stops Hornet from sliding down walls when sticking to. them.

Spider Strings-Increases the range of the Needolin effect.

Silkspeed Anklets-At the cost of a small amount of silk, increases the sprint speed by 34%. Can be paired with the Fleabrew which greatly increases Hornet's movespeed.

Thief's Mark-Causes enemies to drop more rosaries upon defeat at the cost of losing rosaries when hit.
